Project Description

Widening of the water supply system of Ho Chi Min catching the waters of the Saigon River.
The purpose of the project was to guarantee drinking water supply for the town of Ho Chi Min by the year 2000 for a population of approximately 4.000.000 inhabitants. The project developed a new supply system from the Saigon River by completing the existing structure (wells and supply of Dong Nai) in order to guarantee a daily supply of 1,5 million m³ with respect to the current 0,9 millions. The main works planned to guarantee a supply of 7 m³/s are: Piezometric tower; Treatment plant; Catching from the river Saigon and pumping station (h=30 m) of waste waters; 104 km of prestressed reinforced concrete pipes with variable diameter from 600 to 2.000 mm for supply piping; Pumping station (h=50 m); 390 km of steel or PVC pipes with variable diameter from 100 to 400 mm for distribution; 7 km of steel pipes with variable diameter from 100 and 1.900 mm for distribution.
