Descrizione Progetto

The study is mainly centered around four components:

Component 1 : Update of the technical study of the National Road 18 (RN18). The construction of the National Road 18 (RN18) is on the one hand one of the main axes linking the town of Djibouti to Ali-Sabieh, (via the village of Shabelley and Hol-Hol) and on the other hand, the RN18 has a great commercial and economic value for the country, because it constitutes one of the road corridors with Ethiopia by connecting with the RN19. It is located in the Ali Sabieh region in the Republic of Djibouti. The road passes through the localities of Shabelley, Goubetto, Hol-Hol and Daasbiyo over a total length of approximately 74 km.

Component 2 : Construction of a new rocade : The ring road provides a fast urban traffic lane that bypasses or runs alongside a built-up area. It will also ensure the fluidity of traffic and the decongestion of the RN1 where a high number of Ethiopian trucks circulate. As provided for by the Master Plan for Development and Urbanism of Djibouti (SDAU), the construction of a ring road is essential for the capital Djibouti. It is located in Balbala-sud, going from the Pk 13 of the roundabout of the national road 1 (RN1) to the national road 2 (RN2) Pk 17.6 to facilitate East-West connections and will also allow the connection of the RN18 to the RN1. The Oued Ambouli river is crossed by a 105m reinforced concrete bridge (5 reinforced concrete spans). It is therefore a suburban road 16.5 km long and 24.5 m wide (twice two lanes).

Component 3 : Construction of the spur of Bicidley : The new airport represents an important step in Djibouti's strategy to create synergy between the different modes of transport. It will have a cargo terminal which will serve as an air-sea logistics base and will transform Djibouti into a strategic hub for the region. The future airport will be built in Bicidley, a locality in the Ali Sabieh region a little after 60 kilometers from the current Ambouli International Airport. However, access roads are essential for such an international airport, capable of conveying goods and passengers, but above all capable of interlocking as a relay in the transport chain, is a condition of attractiveness and performance. Another advantage of this path is the economic development of this area. Because it is obvious that political decentralization must be reinforced by economic decentralization, which provides activities for local communities.

Component 4 : Construction of the section DAASBIYO-RN5 : It is necessary to carry out the detailed study of the DAASBIYO-RN5 section of a linear of about 15.5 km up to the crossroads with the RN5. The RN5 crossroads plays a very important role because it allows the connection of two corridors (RN1, RN19). It is necessary to properly carry out the hydrological study of this section taking into account the numerous flows which cross the Talweg of RAKOUBYEL and the flat topography of the floodplain of Grand Barra which also collects the flows from the basins slope of the HADHLA mountains and the KOR KALOC and Il CHABEL wadis.
