Project Description

The Works Contract consists in the permanent works and the relevant temporary works for upgrading to bituminous surfaced road standards the existing gravel road from Sanniquellie to Loguatuo (project length 45,8 km).

The starting point is situated at the Sanniquellie exit, in correspondence of the junction to Yekepa (Guinea border) and the project ends at the exit of the new Tahne river bridge situated at the Ivory Coast border, at Loguatuo.

The Supervision services are divided in the following components

Supervision of Construction Activities

Defect Liability Period

Design and Construction Supervision Joint Border Post located at Loguatuo(JPB)

During the above mentioned four phases AIC Progetti shall assist the Employer (MPW) for the following tasks:

  • construction works and defect liability period supervision of the Sanniquellie – Loguatuo road upgrading;
  • detailed engineering design and construction supervision for the relevant joint border post.

The typical cross section of the upgraded road is the following:

Carriageway: two lanes 3,75 m wide

Shoulders: two shoulders 1,50 m wide

The typical pavement structure is the following:

Bituminous wearing course 5 cm thick and 10,50 m wide (full width)=480.900m²

Crushed stone base course 15 cm thick, full width =7.213.500m³

Cement treated natural gravel subbase 20cm thick, full width = 9.618.000m³

Structures:

3 one span reinforced concrete beam bridges (1 x 15 m)

2 one span reinforced concrete beam bridges (1 x 20 m)

2 two span reinforced concrete beam bridges (2 x 20 m)

1 three span reinforced concrete beam bridges (3 x 20 m)

33 concrete pipe culverts f 900 mm with RC heads

30 RC box culverts 1 x 2,0 m x 1,0 m

19 RC box culverts 1 x 3,0 m x 1,5 m

4 RC box culverts 2 x 3,0 m x 1,5 m

4 RC box culverts 2 x 4,0 m x 2,0 m

Services Description

Resident Engineer: he is responsible for the overall performance of the supervision team. The Resident Engineer will be responsible for the administration and supervision of his own lot and prepare project management facilities as required by the Contract - Material Engineer: he shall ensure that the contractor complies with the quality of works as it relates to soils and materials standards as specified in the contract documents. The soils and materials Engineer shall be responsible for the control of pavement works – Bridge Engineer: he hall ensure that the contractor complies with the quality of works as it relates to structure and bridge design standards as specified in the contract documents; Geodetic Engineer: he shall verify the works setting out, centerline and road cross sections.

Road safety expert: he shall be responsible for road safety of the project
