Project Description

The study consists of carrying out the technical studies and the preparation of the Bidding Documents (DAO) for the development of the RN2 section Bukavu - Saké - Goma (approximately 200 km) and the structuring roads of the city of Bukavu and the RN2 spurs (approximately 23 km). The road sections affected by the project are as follows.
- RN2 section Bukavu (Place de l’Independence) – Saké – Goma (194,8 Km)
- RN2 Spurs :
• Ramp to the IITA Research Center in Kalembo (3.7 km) and the entrance to the Catholic University of Bukavu (0.5 km)
• Entrance ramp to Kahuzi Biega National Park (7.2 Km)
• Access ramp to the Lwiro Natural Science Research Center (1.8 Km)
• Ramp to INERA (1.1 Km)
• Access ramp to the ex-FOMILAC Hospital (3.0 Km)
- Structuring roads of the city of Bukavu:
• Kasha - RN2 (4,3 km) road;
• Ntwali - RN2 (1,48 km) road;
• Cimpunda - RN2 (3,6 km) road;
• Industrielle (0,4 km) road;
• Kibonge (0,4 km) road;
• Saio (3,14 km) road;
• Nyofu (1,32 km) road;
• Plateau (1,1 km) road;
• Tanganyika (0,93 km) road;
• Hippodrome (1,1 km) road.

Road project geometry:
- Total road length: 235 km
- Width of the road in open countryside: 9.0 m
- Width of the road in built-up areas: 7.0-12.0 m
Road quantities:
- Earthworks (fill/cut): 1 750 000 m3
- Cement Treated Base layer: 470 000 m3
- Base course in crushed GNT 450 000 m3
- Wearing course BB: 94 000 m3

Structures:
- Gutters: 250 000 m
- Pipe culverts: 750 no.
