Project Description

The project is included in the basic infrastructure rehabilitation program envisaging the control of traffic on approximately 15.870 km of primary roads.

The road axis Nsele-Lufimi and Kwango-Kenge represent two important sections of the national road n. 1 linking the town of Kinshasa to the town of Kikwit, and to Kenge and Masimanimba territories.

The RN1 is a section bearing a large volume of traffic related to the Kenge (1.000.000 inhabitants) and Masimanimba (800.000 inhabitants) territories, besides the towns of Kinshasa (8.000.000 inhabitants) and Kikwit (500.000 inhabitants).

This axis is very important for what concerns the isolation of the Kinshasa province, of Bandundu and Kasai provinces, and for the rehabilitation of traffic continuity between Kinshasa and Kikwit.

The rehabilitation of the road and its structures, the increase in the road capacity and the rehabilitation of road crossings will improve traffic fluidity between Kinshasa and Kikwit and will contribute to cost and goods interurban transport time reduction, and to the access of people to public and social services.
