Descrizione Progetto

The main scope of the project is the navigability improvement, the extension of navigable area of the Uruguay river and the river transport development, strengthening it wherever already active and creating it in sections where it does not exist. The objectives to be reached are:
1. Increase in good volumes, reduction of load costs and increase in good interchange competitiveness.
2. Promoting regional development and harmonizing the regulations of the two involved countries. In particular, the project allows to improve land regulation since it connects different kinds of multimodal transport.
As far as project specific objectives are concerned, a first phase includes the realization of a social, technical and economic pre-feasibility study of the Uruguay river and the involved area for navigability condition improvement. A second phase involves the realization of a detailed preliminary design of all works required for improving the navigability and extend the navigable area.
The project is divided in two phases: the first one includes a regional socio-economic analysis of the river area; a technical-economic analysis of the river navigability; and a project socio-cultural and environmental impact analysis. A second phase involves the implementation of a detailed preliminary design of all envisaged structures.

2° phase: Detailed technical study of the selected solution; Environmental impact study; Economic, financial and social evaluation of the selected solution
