Project Description

The project is included within the UEMOA (West African Economic and Monetary Union-WAEMU) program for improving transport infrastructures in community areas through facilitation actions and measures of transport, road safety and environmental management.

The program must contribute to the improvement of communications between the country and Ghana ports, to the promotion of economic activities and the development of private sector, to reduce transport costs and in general the development of interregional economic exchanges.

The specific objective is to improve road connection between Burkina Faso and Ghana, reduce  general transport costs between the two countries and improve investment duration by controlling heavy traffic.

The project road layout follows the existing track, besides some sections where modifications are envisaged. Geometric characteristics are those of the existing road with a reference speed of 80-100 km/h.

The road has a width of 7,00 m with two shoulders of 1,50 m width each.

The project concerns reinforcement works of the section Ouagadougou-Pô–Ghana border on the Community road CU 8, interregional road between Burkina and Ghana aiming at improving socio-economic development of the region and creating a durable and efficient road connection between Burkina and Ghana.
