Project Description

The study starts at Ch 622+150 of RN1 starting from Kinshasa up to the end of asphalted section of Kikwit –Batshamba of 93 km in length. The first section ends on the left bank of the Loange river, marking out the Bandundu and West Kasaï provinces. The second section ends after the Tshikapa crossing.

The study develops on a plain ground, a grass savanna, and the road is characterized by deep tracking. The soils of the platform are composed by thin sand, loamy or clayey sands. Cross section : 10m with 2 lanes of 3,50 m and 2 shoulders of 1,50m. Sand sub-base, base course in crushed stone, asphalt concrete surface treatment.

The crossed villages are Masamango, Gongo Malanda, Busi Bongo, Mungayi, Kinzamba, Mukedi, Kilembe, Mukulumbunzi, Kipita.

The structures to be rebuilt are : Lubue bridge Ch 26 approx., L= 30 m ; Kinyo bridge Ch 70 approx., L= 10 m ; Apakasa bridge Ch 75 approx., L= 10 m ; Kasaï bridge Ch 230 approx., L= 150 m.

The detailed engineering design concerns the chosen rehabilitation option and includes the following activities: topographic survey and preparation of topographic plans; update of hydraulic and geotechnical study (including ; geophysical survey and drilling for quarry and foundations), structure plan preparation; technical documents preparation; environmental study and environmental management plan, works quantity evaluation and cost estimate; update of economic and financial analysis results; tender documents preparation for works and work construction supervision; project indicators definition; Evaluation and audit.
