Project Description

The general objective of the services is to secure the Northern Road Corridor, by connecting the Indian Ocean, through Kampala, to the Rwandese border, in order to support the economic and social development of the region and contribute in the achievement of the objectives of the Poverty Eradication Action Plan.

The study concerns the widening of the existing road to 11 meters, the reconstruction of base and sub-base in crushed stone (17 and 25 cm) and an asphalt sub-base (DBM) of 10 cm and an asphalt concrete wearing course surface of 5 cm over 7 meters with double surface treatment on shoulders.

Moreover, the study included investigations of swamp crossing sections and wetland areas by drilling and light penetrometric tests and triaxial tests and the new Katonga bridge design on deep foundation.
